EFEM Lecture 2024 – Professor Luis Puelles López

As part of the activities carried out by EFEM, we award a distinguished lecture held by colleagues who have made significant contributions to Anatomical research. For this year´s EFEM Lecture we have invited Prof. Luis Puelles López to deliver the Lecture in Graz during the Tripartite Meeting of the German Anatomical Society (Anatomische Gesellschaft), Austrian Society of Anatomy and Swiss Society for Anatomy, Histology and Embryology. The Tripartite Meeting will be held in Graz, Austria, September 25-27, 2024.

Dr. Puelles López is a Spanish anatomist specializing in the nervous system formation during development. He defended his thesis after receiving his medical degree in Granada, Spain, in 1973. He later developed teaching responsibilities in Neuroanatomy at several universities in Spain. He has been a professor of Neuroanatomy for more than 30 years at Murcia University. He has also been an associate member at The Institute for Neurosciences CSIC-UMH in Alicante, Spain, and president of the Spanish Society for Neuroscience in the 1990s.

Some of his areas of interest are the formation of the brainstem among vertebrates, the regionalization of the brain, and the study of gene expression that participates in nervous system formation at the early stages of development. His scientific output includes 300 research papers and impossible-to-quantify oral contributions to scientific meetings and seminars. We are honored Dr Puelles accepted to give the next EFEM Lecture.

The Tripartite Meeting will take place in Graz, Austria from September 25 to 27 and is being organised by Anatomische Gesellschaft, Austrian Anatomical Society, and the Swiss Society of Anatomy, Histology and Embriology. More information here:
