Registration and Format

The event will run as an Online Symposium and all information on the format of the event can be seen in the attached flyer.

It would be great to give our talented early stage researcher a great audience to present their work! We are looking forward to seeing you at the event.

Best Image Award

If you wish to participate in the Best Image Award, you can submit a research image to EFEMSymposium@rcsi.com by the 3rd May 2023, 23:59 (Dublin time).

Who can participate and what are the conditions?

  • Any member of an EFEM affiliated society can participate
  • You do not need to be a nominated presenter at the symposium in order to participate
  • You need to be registered for the symposium in order to participate
  • You must use an institutional email (no gmail or Hotmail etc) to submit your image
  • Please label the filename with your surname
  • You must not violate copyrights. By submitting an image, you confirm that you own the image

The image must be:

  • A colour research image with appropriate labelling
  • JPEG or TIFF format
  • Minimum resolution 300 dpi
  • File size no larger than 3.0 MB in size
  • Image format no smaller than A5 size (14.8 x 21 cm)

You must include a short title and brief description (no more than 50 words) of the subject matter, how the image was taken, and a legend to accompany the image

Judging criteria: visual interest (weighted 3 times as much as the others), difficulty acquiring, clarity of description

Prizes: there will be trophies for 1st and 2nd place, the winners will be featured on the EFEM twitter account with name, image and twitter handle, and on the EFEM website.

The winners will be announced at the end of the conference.
